15th Annual Tesoro Golf Tournament

Fore!

It’s time for the 15th Annual Tesoro Golf Tournament.  This event is a fun filled day that includes golf, a silent auction, lunch and good times.  This year we are so pleased to be having the tournament at the Anchorage Golf Course/O’Malley’s on the Green, our Paradise in Alaska.  Aloha, that’s right we’re putting a little Hawaiian theme to the event.  The tournament will begin with a 7:00 am shotgun start and end with a Hawaiian Luau Buffet.  There will be prizes to give away and a silent auction occurring during lunch.  Mark your calendar for Friday July 31st.  Contact the MDA office at 276-2131 for details on how to sign up for this memorable event.  All monies raised will go directly to the Alaska Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Your donation will help fund an array of services, which include specialized medical care at the Alaska Regional Hospital clinic, provision of wheelchairs and leg braces, support groups, summer camp and worldwide research in to the causes, treatments and cures for over 40 muscle wasting diseases.  The Alaska Chapter of the MDA provides services to over 300 families around the state.

  • Telethon

The Telethon is the single most important fund raising event of the year for MDA. In 2009, $403,267 was raised statewide Alaska during the two day broadcast carried on KTUU, Channel 2 in Anchorage and KTVF, Channel 11 in Fairbanks. Funds raised help the Association carry on its fight against over 40 neuro-muscular diseases, including a worldwide program of basic and applied research, a nationwide network of comprehensive medical and support services, and extensive professional and public education. Children and adults with neuro-muscular diseases benefit directly from dollars raised during the Telethon.

  • Research

MDA is the world's largest non-governmental sponsor of research seeking the causes of and effective treatments for neuro-muscular diseases, sponsoring some 400 research projects annually.

  • MDA Worldwide

MDA has long had a worldwide impact. Since 1951, MDA has funneled almost $50 million to researchers in 36 countries on six continents. And many times that amount has been awarded in MDA research grants in the United States.
